The submission of a manuscript carries with it the author's assurance that:

it has not been copyrighted or published elsewhere (except in the form of an abstract or as part of a published lecture, review, or thesis);

it is not under consideration for publication elsewhere;

ts publication has been approved by all coauthors, if any,

after being accepted by our journal it will not be published in another journal.

## Notice to Authors

Romanian Astronomical Journal is a peer-review journal and appears twice a year in a continue printed series from 1991. Starting with 2012, all articles appear integral also on-line. Starting with 2015, it exists the third issue that appears only on-line, since the first two issues, published also in printed version, have a limited number of pages.

The articles are accepted only in English language and in the journal defined style:
in latex editor, and figures in jpg or eps format.

The manuscripts (pdf, latex and figures files) should be submitted to roaj@aira.astro.ro.

Please, always take the last version. You can use the file template.tex as starting file.

There are packages which are loaded automatically: \textit{textcase}, \textit{truncate}, \textit{color} which are used internally, \textit{amsfonts}, \textit{amsmath}, \textit{amssymb} to allow authors to use the mathematical environments provided therein rather than the normal and limited \LaTeXe ~environments (especially \textit{eqnarray} is advised to be replaced by environments from the AMS style - \ie. \textit{split}) and \textit{cite} to force compression of the citation lists. There are automatically loaded too: \textit{url} and \textit{lastpage} packages.

You must use in your preamble document the load of \textit{graphicx}, \textit{upgreek}, and \textit{mynatbib} packages, the last one being useful to obtain the bibliography style of \roaj.

The rules applied to edit an article are the general rules applied in latex. We point out here only some important aspects for the \roaj style.
Please, do not use all capital letters to edit the authors, title and the section titles - the latex style does this for you!

The figures, in \textbf{jpg} format, are introduced with \emph{includegraphics}.
Please specify the figure extension. Use a \emph{special folder} to put all your figures and refer to them as "./yourfolder/fig1.jpg", for instance. Refer the figure with"ref\{f1}".
Each figure has its own key, \ie f1, f2, \emph{etc}.

The tables should be centered on the page (using "centering" command) and the reference is similar to the figures.
Please, use 9 pt fonts for the table text, like in the example.

The equations should be edited with the general latex rules.

The formulas should be numbered.

Please use straight letters for operators: for derived the command use \textbf{deriv } defined in roajarticle.cls.
For the Greek letters inside the formulas please use the package \textit{upgreek}.

The groups i.e. and et al. and others similar should be written in italic characters. Please use the operators \ie and \etal for that.

\section{The references}
The reference style of \roaj use author-year style and the alphabetical order.
Please use the \textbf{mynatbib} package, included in the RoAJ files, package modified compared to \emph{natbib}.

Please, use these definitions for the journal names. There are included in the roajarticle.cls file too.

To cite a reference use  \citet{Levi1906} to produce Levi (1906), and \citep{Levi1906} to produce (Levi, 1906).

You can use the ADS service to generate the bibliography, selecting the SoPh format.
When you use an url address, type the url command and address, \ie. \emph{url{http://www.astro.ro/~roaj}}, to appear like \url{http://www.astro.ro/~roaj}.
