The satellite EMISAR, observed by Romanian astronomers

EMISAR, a Romanian satellite measuring 10x10x10 cm and orbiting at a distance of about 517 km from Earth, was observed on 19.06.2026 by Romanian astronomers, who confirmed its ephemerides through astronomical observations. The observations were carried out by the Astronomical Institute of the Romanian Academy, in Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca, through the Berthelot Astronomical Observatory and the Feleacu Observation Station. EMISAR (OBJECT M #68427U 26067M) is a communications space platform developed entirely in Romania, belonging to the 1U CubeSat class of nanosatellites.

In Bucharest, the observations were conducted using the HARET 20 sensor, through the remote operation of the Berthelot Astronomical Observatory, using the APSIS pipeline. In Cluj-Napoca, the confirmation was made by the Cluj-Napoca Branch of the Astronomical Institute of the Romanian Academy, using the AROAC T08 sensor at the Feleacu Observation Station.

These observations confirm the high level of expertise of Romanian astronomers and of the national infrastructure dedicated to tracking space objects (SST - Space Systems Tracking), as well as Romania’s contribution to the observation and monitoring of artificial satellites.
