Astronomy/Astrophysics in general, and the study of exoplanets in particular, are fields that naturally spark students’ curiosity and can increase their interest in science. The aim of the project is to connect these questions to the fundamental principles of basic sciences, particularly physics and mathematics.
Teacher training within the project will allow educators to engage with the latest scientific research in the field, conduct real-time observations to understand how this knowledge is acquired, process the data obtained in real time, and comprehend both the limitations and the ways in which the results should be interpreted.
The Astronomical Institute of the Romanian Academy is a partner in the Erasmus+ project “Exoplanets for Education,” 2024-1-FR01-KA220-SCH-000256856, funded by the European Commission.
Within this framework, a first national school for pre-university teachers will be organized. The call for applications, launched on October 13, 2025, will allow the training of 15 teachers in discovering concepts related to exoplanets and in implementing an educational module on this topic in their schools.
You can find the call for applications here - pdfThe National Committee involved in the implementation of the Erasmus+ project entitled “Exoplanets for Education” (acronym Exo4Edu) has deliberated and established the ranking of the application files for the first National School.
