IAU
- International Astronomical Union
Romania
is a founding member of the IAU. The Romanian National
Astronomical Committee founded in 1930 represents it at the IAU.
Thirteen
researchers from our Institute are IAU members.
At
the 24th General Assembly of the IAU, the Working Group “The
Future Development of Ground-Based Astrometry”, headed by Magda
Stavinschi and
Jean Kovalevsky, was set up within Commission 8.
EAS
- European Astronomical Society
The
Romanian National Astronomical Committee is "Affiliated
Society" to the EAS. Sixteen researchers from our Institute are EAS
members.
In
September 2000 the South-East Branch of the EAS was set up.
Sub-Regional European
Astronomical Committee (SREAC) (http//www.astro.bas.bg/SREAC) was set
up in
2004. Two researchers from our Institute are SREAC
members.
